In a joint operation, elements of the State of Mexico Security Secretariat (SSEM) and the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) managed to detain two men in possession of firearms and 37 million pesos in cash, who were traveling on Avenida Lomas Verdes in Naucalpan de Juárez. The detention was carried out during security tours implemented under the East Zone Unified Command scheme. However, officers managed to spot from the outside the presence of two firearms, one of them without the corresponding legal permit, and various packages of money, so a crane was requested to tow the vehicle to the Public Prosecutor's Office. Inside the vehicle, two short-barreled firearms, four magazines, and useful cartridges were located. The events occurred at the height of the Lomas Verdes colony, when law enforcement identified a Dodge brand Durango model SUV, gray and armored. According to the official report, the officers observed the vehicle occupants manipulating objects inside, who, upon noticing the police presence, threw said items towards the back seat with a suspicious attitude. After requesting them to stop and exit the unit for an inspection, the subjects refused on two occasions. Likewise, 37 million pesos in cash were seized, an amount of which the implicated parties could not prove their legal possession nor present the corresponding documentation, as reported by the State Security Secretariat. Derived from these findings, Iván 'N', 37, and José 'N', 53, were arrested. Both are being investigated for their probable participation in the crimes of resistance, carrying, hoarding, and trafficking of prohibited weapons, as well as operations with resources of illicit origin.
